労働者の権利を守るようお願いします。

Protect Human Rights of children of cocoa farms in Cote d’Ivoire

Dear Prime Minister,

I am writing to express my deep concern on the use of forced and illegal child labour in the cocoa industry in Cote d’Ivoire. It is reported that these Malian children have been beaten and forced to work 12 to 14 hours a day with no pay and little food or sleep. Malian children had been trafficked into Côte d’Ivoire and forced to work on cocoa farms.

I urge you to take all the necessary measures to immediately abolish the practice of child labour and forced labour and amend all Cote d’Ivoire legislation to expressly prohibit the use of child labour.

I also urge you to bring to justice those who found responsible for imposing child labour.

Lastly, I urge the authorities to work on prohibition of child labour and on protection of the rights of workers, in cooperation with International Labour Organization(ILO) and other international organizations.
